“Chambers, Freda Macadam, widely recognized and beloved Tucson artist, died at the age of 90 on June 2, 1998. Born in Chester, Pennsylvania, Freda’s artistic career included study in Philadelphia, West Virginia and Fontainebleau, France. One of her paintings was chosen for exhibition in the 1939 World’s Fair, American Art Exhibit. Freda’s marriage to geologist A. E. Chambers brought new vistas for her in the West, in Idaho and Arizona. Her painting career ended in the 1980s with loss of her sight, but her enthusiasm never lessened, and she inspired her two living children, Susan and Wid, to pursue careers in the arts…,”
